Why It Matters
AAPI communities in Ohio face unique and often overlooked health disparities that stem from cultural, linguistic, and systemic barriers. From lower rates of preventive care to increased stigma around mental health, many individuals and families are left without the support they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives. Language differences, lack of culturally competent providers, and socioeconomic inequalities create gaps in care that put AAPI communities at greater risk for chronic illnesses, undiagnosed conditions, and limited access to mental health resources. Yet these challenges are frequently invisible in public health data and conversations, leaving critical needs unmet and voices unheard.
We’re here to change the narrative.
By centering the experiences, needs, and strengths of AAPI communities, we are working to build a healthcare system that doesn’t just treat but understands, respects, and uplifts every individual it serves. We believe that true health equity means ensuring everyone, regardless of background, has access to the care, resources, and education they need to thrive. Through advocacy, culturally tailored programs, and strategic partnerships, we are creating pathways for AAPI individuals and families to not only receive care but to be seen, valued, and empowered within Ohio’s healthcare landscape.
